About nas
NAS, also known as Network Attached Storage, when written in full. So, NAS is an abbreviation for storage via your network. It can be attached directly to your router via USB or ethernet.

A NAS can operate as a fileserver, through specialised hardware and/or software. With one, you will be able to access your important files outside of your home, from any PC (or sometimes device), store video from surveillance or stream movies and music directly to your TV or Stereo, without having issues of moving physical media back and forth.
NAS devices still are not in every home, but they are getting more and more common as the digital lifestyle spans more and more of the population. Especially the adoption of smarthome devices are aiding in this progress.
NAS devices come in many different variations, with and without drives, with different hardware and from a plethora of different manufacturers.
That is why we, at Tweak Reviews, have implemented a series of filters, which hopefully can help you down the road of choosing the correct NAS for your specific needs.
If you want to view all the different NAS devices we have tested over the years, you should not pick a filter and thus form a great overview. Do you, however, wish to see something specific, you could choose Synology or QNAP under brands.

In the brands dropdown, choose and click on Synology. The other filters work much in the same way. Should you only wish to see QNAP devices which support PLEX and score a 4 or above, just go ahead and select these values. You can even apply price filters, allowing you to only be shown NAS devices with a price below $229.
Should you find that there are no results at all, you can return and adjust your requirements until results start popping up in the search.

If you are ever in doubt what different things mean on our website, you can follow the little how-to buttons. That will lead you to our dedicated area, where we try to explain as much as possible about NAS devices - ie. How to handle the setup of PLEX Media Server or to make sure you have access to your pictures when you’re travelling.

In our gaming NAS review section you will be able to find all the tests of NAS devices, that we have done through the years. Remember, we always review products based on our own subjective findings and experiences with the product. That is also why we guarantee untainted stories of how a product performs.

The news button is meant for when you have an interest in reading the latest news about NAS devices. It might be very relevant, if you want to form an overview of new products coming soon, or just recent trends and developments.
