Blizzard has just released Title Update 1.3.5 for Diablo 4, which adds official support for Ray Tracing. To be more precise, Blizzard has used Ray Tracing to improve the game's shadows and reflections.

To go into more detail, Ray Tracing will make the shadows of the sun more realistic and lifelike. For example, shadows will become softer the further away you look from the bottom of an object.

Likewise, RT reflections will help provide more lifelike situations. Therefore, players will see parts of the environment that were previously invisible.

Blizzard has also shared the PC requirements for this RT update. According to the team, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 with DLSS Super Resolution will be able to run the game at 1080p/low settings at 30fps. To hit 1080p/high settings/60fps, you need an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 with DLSS Super Resolution. Finally, Blizzard recommends using an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 with DLSS Frame Generation for 4K/Ultra at 60fps.

Michael Bukowski, Diablo IV's technical director, said : "The release of Diablo IV was just the beginning for us. We make regular iterations based on player feedback and explore how we can improve the game's visuals and dark atmosphere. Adding raytraced effects is our next steps in making the brutal world of Sanctuary more immersive than ever before Effects like lightning strikes are now reflected in puddles of blood and water, dark cellars and dungeons are creepier with realistic soft shadows, and the open world and cities are more down to earth with extra realistic shadows and reflections. We are very excited for our community to experience this new technology."

Kevin Todisco, Diablo IV's lead software engineer, also added , "It was great to work closely with NVIDIA to bring ray tracing to Diablo IV. The experience they have with ray tracing technologies was critical in helping us take our ray tracing -implementation to production quality, and libraries they offer like RTXMU gave us a valuable boost as we developed."

It's also important to note that Blizzard will also improve the game's graphics, even for those who don't use Ray Tracing. This update will offer a better implementation of Ambient Occlusion. Additionally, it will allow almost all objects and characters to cast dynamic shadows.

As always, Battlenet will download this update the next time you launch its client. You can also find the full patch notes here.
