Electronics Hub has taken a look at which PC components are the most used and not least the best reviewed. They have pulled a lot of data via PC Part Picker and the result is very interesting.

Before we look at the results, it is of course important to keep in mind that the data used comes, as I said, from the website PC Part Picker, and is therefore not drawn from direct sales data. This is information reported by site users. There may therefore be some uncertainty in the figures, as of course not all sales and trends go through PC Part Picker. At the same time, here in Denmark, we must also remember that it is an American-based website and the trends seen on the site cannot necessarily be mirrored to the Danish or European market, as availability and prices can vary quite a bit.

Having said all that, I think the numbers give an interesting look at which products are popular when people swing by PC Part Picker to build a system.

The most popular PC components

It is very interesting to see which PC components have received the best user rating on the PC Part Picker page. With that data, the team at Electronic Hob has created a Top 10 list of the best reviewed components among the site's users. Here we can see that AMD Ryzen CPUs have a total of four places on the list, three of which are in the Top 5. We can see that the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X has received a Five Star review among 98% of users.

A complete system with the most popular components

If you were to assemble a complete system with the best reviewed components on the site, the results from Electronics Hub show an interesting picture. It would be an AMD based system with an AMD Ryzen 9 3950X CPU in an MSI MEG X570 Unify motherboard along with an Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics card. All gathered in a Lian Li O11 Dynamic cabinet.

The most used components

Electronics Hub has also taken a look at which parts are the most used by users in their systems. After all, it's one thing which products get good reviews, and another thing is which ones are bought the most. Here we can clearly see that stock, perhaps unsurprisingly, takes up quite a bit of the list. There can of course be many reasons for this, but modern games gradually take up a lot of space and this naturally requires storage space in a system. When we look at the results, however, it could also indicate that the numbers are a bit outdated, as we can see both an SSD and a mechanical hard drive with a fairly low capacity topping the list. As we see later in recent figures, the trend is changing.

However, it is very interesting to see that an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 is the most used CPU among the site's users, together with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 CPU cooler.

The most popular system in 2022 - 2023

If we have to look at the latest results, then the next result is very interesting. Here the focus is on the most used components in systems assembled in 2022 and 2023. Here again we can see that an AMD Ryzen CPU runs with a victory. AMD Ryzen 5 5600X is the most used CPU among users, along with an ASUS TUF Gaming X570-PLUS motherboard. We can also see that Corsair wins as the most popular component for both case, RAM and power supply. They win with their Corsair 4000D Airflow case, Vengeance LP 16GB RAM and their RM859x power supply.

A data point that perhaps makes it clear that we should, after all, take the information with a grain of salt, in relation to the PC market as a whole, is that we can see an Nvidia RTX 4090 graphics card as the most used card among users in the period. It is certainly not a trend that is general for the PC market in the period.

The most popular single components in 2022-2023

If we look at the most popular individual components in the 2022 to 2023 period, we also get a few interesting insights into the site's users. Here, for the first time, we can see an Intel CPU creeping into a list, where their Intel Core i7-13700K comes in at 10th place. It is overtaken by AMD Ryzen 5 5600X and AMD Ryzen 7 5800X in 4th and 6th place respectively. Very interesting in relation to my previous remarks about storage, we can also see here the modern trend in storage taking effect. With their M.2 SSDs, Samsung has as many as four places on the list of most used components in the period, with their Samsung 980 Pro 2TB M.2 SSD topping the list.
