Acer announces new Nitro 14 and 16 gaming laptops with AMD's Hawk Point Ryzen 8040 and NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 30 and 40 series. Available from May.

Earlier this week, Acer announced the new Nitro 14 and Nitro 16 gaming laptops. These laptops are powered by AMD's Hawk Point Ryzen 8040 Series mobile processors, as well as NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 30 and 40 Series discrete GPUs.

Starting with the Nitro 14, this laptop features a 14.5-inch 16:10 display, with a choice of either FHD+ (1920 x 1200) or QHD+ (2560 x 1600) resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate. Inside, the laptop comes with up to a Ryzen 7 8845HS, 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, up to 32GB LPDDR5X RAM, and up to an RTX 4060 8GB GPU.

All of this is powered by a 76WHr battery, and in total the laptop weighs just over 2kg. Pricing for the Nitro 14 starts at US$1,299.99 and will be available in North America from May this year. At this time there is still no information on local availability or price.

The Nitro 16 is the larger and slightly more powerful model of the two, with a 16-inch IPS+ 16:10 display with a 165Hz refresh rate across all SKUs. Consumers will have the choice of a standard FHD+ (1920 x 1200) display or an FHD+ display that is NVIDIA Advanced Optimus Capable, while the highest SKU will have a maximum resolution of QHD+ (2560 x 1600) and is also Advanced Optimus Capable.

Inside, the Nitro 16 can be equipped with up to a Ryzen 9 8945HS, an RTX 4060 8GB, up to 2TB of PCIe 4.0 storage and up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM. To keep the laptop running, it also has the same 76WHr battery as its 14-inch sibling. Since it is larger, it also weighs more at 2.43kg. Like the Nitro 14, the Nitro 16 will be available from May with a starting price of US$1,399.99. Again, there's still no local pricing or availability for the laptop.
