Apple's next "budget" iPhone, the iPhone SE 4, is expected to launch in spring 2025. The new model is likely to come with several upgrades, including Face ID, a 6.1-inch OLED display and USB-C port.

There is always great excitement around Apple's next iPhones, and this year is no exception with the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro. But there is also considerable interest around Apple's fourth generation iPhone SE.

Here's what we know so far about the iPhone SE 4, including release date, expected price and key design features:

Release Date :

According to the latest rumors, the iPhone SE 4 will be launched in the spring of 2025. This is in line with the launch times of previous SE models, which have traditionally been presented separately from the other iPhone models. We expect Apple to announce the device in March or April, probably via a press release, unless there are other products to be unveiled at the same time.

Expected price :

Pricing has yet to be confirmed, but a leak on X (formerly Twitter) claims that the SE 4 will match the current model's $429 price tag, or perhaps be up to 10% more expensive. Apple wants to keep the price below $500, which makes sense since the iPhone 14 will likely drop to $599 or less this fall.

Design and features:

The biggest news about the iPhone SE 4 is its design. The SE 3 was based on the iPhone 8 from 2017, making it obsolete with its 4.7-inch LCD screen with thick bezels and a home button. The SE 4 is expected to be modeled after the iPhone 14, which means it will finally adopt Face ID and a full-touch screen interface. It is likely to have a 6.1-inch OLED display that offers better colors, contrast and brightness.

Another possible new feature is an Action button, which debuted on the Apple Watch Ultra and then came to the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. Apple likely wants to keep control options consistent across its devices.

The SE 4 will also switch from Lightning to USB-C, in line with European rules and regulations. To keep costs down, Apple may choose to use a slow USB 2.0 connection, as found in the standard iPhone 15.

Performance and storage space: The core of the SE series has always been to offer Apple's latest processors without paying too many extras. The SE 4 could either get an A17 chip, which is currently found in the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, or an A18 chip if all models of the iPhone 16 get this chip. The standard storage space is expected to be increased to 128GB, as the current 64GB in the SE 3 is no longer sufficient with the increasing size of apps and iOS.

We will continue to update this article with new information about available RAM, color options and wireless technology as they become available.
