Apple is cutting ~100 positions in its digital services group. Biggest cuts affect the Apple Books app and the Apple Bookstore team.

Apple has cut about 100 jobs in its digital services group, with the biggest cuts affecting the team responsible for the Apple Books app and the Apple Bookstore, Bloomberg News reported.

The cuts include some engineering roles and other services teams such as those that run Apple News, the newsletter reported, citing informed sources. However, it was unclear how many employees Apple had in its services division.

According to the company's latest annual report, Apple had around 161,000 full-time employees as of September 30, 2023. Apple has been restructuring its teams in line with changing priorities, including in artificial intelligence.

It was previously reported that the company has temporarily suspended work on its next high-end Vision headset and shut down a project to design and develop its own smartwatch displays earlier this year.

This comes as Apple has struggled in China, its third-largest market, since last year, where sales fell 6.5% last quarter.
