The recently announced OnePlus 12R has created quite a stir in the tech world as a bug in the announcement of the storage configuration was spotted in some places. Initially, the new smartphone in the 256GB variant was listed with UFS 4.0 storage, but it was later revealed that it is actually equipped with UFS 3.1 storage, which is in line with the base storage option. This bug led to a backlash from both customers and tech experts on various platforms like Reddit and X (formerly Twitter). That prompted OnePlus to act quickly and correct the information.

Now they confirm that both the 128GB and 256GB storage models are equipped with UFS 3.1 storage. As a direct consequence of this discrepancy, OnePlus has now offered a full refund to customers who purchased the 256GB storage variant of the OnePlus 12R. This decision was announced by OnePlus' president and COO, Kinder Liu, in a post on the OnePlus Community forum . Liu stressed that customers who purchased the 256GB storage variant have until March 16, 2024 to request a full refund.

Liu further assured customers that OnePlus' customer service teams are fully informed of the situation, ensuring a smooth refund process. Buyers wishing to apply for a refund are encouraged to contact OnePlus Customer Service to discuss the file system issue and initiate the refund process. The one-month refund window gives affected buyers ample time to return their OnePlus 12R devices and seek resolution.
