There are high expectations among fans for ONePlus after new leaks and rumors about the upcoming OnePlus Ace 3 and its global counterpart, the OnePlus 12R. Latest information suggests that the OnePlus 12R will share many of the impressive features with the Ace 3, especially when it comes to the display.
Impressive screen specifications
The leaked information reveals that the OnePlus 12R is expected to feature a 6.78-inch BOE X1 8T LTPO curved display with an impressive 1.5k (2,780 x 1,264 pixels) resolution. The display is expected to have a global maximum brightness of 1,600 nits, a local maximum brightness of 4,500 nits and a PWM dimming rate of 2,160Hz, which on paper sounds like a strong combination.
Apart from the screen, the leak also suggests that the OnePlus 12R will have a glass back with a metal center frame. The smartphone will be available in three colors: pink, gray and blue.
OnePlus plans to launch the OnePlus 12R in China on December 17, followed by a global launch, including in India, as the OnePlus 12R on January 23, 2024. This choice of launch strategy shows that OnePlus is not following the same simultaneous approach as in the past.
Specs spotted in Geekbench
To give an additional insight into the performance, the OnePlus Ace 3 was previously spotted on the benchmarking site Geekbench. Here, it was revealed that the smartphone would be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, complete with 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. Software-wise, the OnePlus Ace 3 is expected to run ColorOS 14 based on Android 14 in China, while the global variant, the OnePlus 12R, is expected to run Oxygen OS 14 based on Android 14.
Battery performance is also expected to be impressive with a 5,500mAh battery supported by lightning fast 100W wired charging.
Compared to the OnePlus 12, which is powered by Qualcomm's latest top processor Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the OnePlus 12R seems to offer an attractive package. The OnePlus 12 has a 5,400mAh battery with support for 100W SuperVOOC, 50W wireless charging and 10W wireless reverse charging.
All in all, the OnePlus 12R looks to be an exciting upgrade in technology and user experience, and fans are looking forward to official confirmation from OnePlus.
