This year's Game Awards were held last night and this naturally means that there are many happy winners. It may not come as a complete surprise, but Baldur's Gate 3 ran with the game of the year award.

Geoff Keighley once again hosted the Game Awards, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. In addition to naturally handing out a lot of prizes, a lot of new trailers were also shown for upcoming games or other game-related projects, like the upcoming Fallout series on Amazon.

Baldur's Gate 3 is this year's big winner.

If you follow the gaming news and read reviews, it might not come as a surprise that Baldur's Gate 3 ended up winning the game of the year award. It has been praised by reviewers all over the world, and has started a debate about what we as gamers should and can expect from big game titles.

Baldur's Gate won ahead of other nominees such as Alan Wake 2, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and The Legend and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Astarion

Unsurprisingly, Baldur's Gate also won the role-playing game of the year award. In addition to that, the game also won for Best Multiplayer Game, Best Community Support and finally the award for best voice actor of the year went to Neil Newbon, who voices Astarion from Baldur's Gate 3.

Another big winner on the night was Alan Wake 2. The long-awaited survival horror game picked up the awards for Best Story, Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction

Trailers by the bucketful

True to tradition, there were also plenty of new trailers for the Game Awards show. There were trailers for already announced games, and a few new games that were announced with a trailer for the Game Awards show.

One of the most anticipated games, for me personally, is the sequel to the, in my book, brilliant game Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice from 2017. We've known the sequel was coming for a while and have seen trailers in the past. For this year's Game Awards, however, there was a new trailer, which maintains the very atmospheric style that is part of the Hellblade setting.

One of the new games that appeared with a trailer was the Marvel Blade game. It is being developed by Arkane Studios, which previously made Dishonored, and you can sense a little of the same style in the trailer.

Fans of Hideo Kojima also got a treat with a new trailer for his upcoming game OD World. In classic Hideo Kojima style, we didn't get to know much about the game, but the trailer was very evocative in that creepy and slightly disturbing way. Kojima continues to work with well-known actors in his games, as we saw, for example, with Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen in Death Stranding. In the OD World trailer we see Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schaffer and Udo Kier.

For fans of God of War, there was also a bit of news with a new trailer for the upcoming Valhalla DLC for God of War Ragnarök.

We also got a new Jurassic Park game that takes the action back to the time of the original movie on the island where it all started. There are also MANY hints and scenes that point directly back to the original 1993 film.
