Microsoft has shown off its Fable reboot again, this time with a new trailer during the Xbox Showcase event.

Along with a new look at Playground Games' upcoming reboot of the Fable franchise, we also learned that fans won't have to wait too long to play it, as Fable is set to release sometime next year. "What does it mean to be a hero? Well, in the fairyland of Albion, it's all up to you," reads Fable's product description. "With a dark threat lurking, and in a world where your reputation precedes you, your choices will change Albion forever."


Playground's revival of the much-loved fantasy RPG series was announced in 2020 as a "new beginning." The Xbox Game Showcase in 2023 then gave us a better idea of what to expect with a reveal presented by The IT Crowd's Richard Ayoade.

This reboot is the first mainline game in the Fable series since 2010's Fable 3 and one of Xbox Game Studios' biggest upcoming titles. Check out everything that was announced at the Xbox Games Showcase to learn more about what Microsoft has in store for the rest of 2024 and beyond.
