Starfield is getting new story DLC, Shattered Space, this fall and a free update will be announced soon. DLC includes new stories, locations, gear and more!

Starfield is getting a story DLC called Shattered Space this fall and a new, free update that will be announced in the next few days, according to Todd Howard. Shattered Space was announced last year in June and is included in the price of Starfield's premium editions.

Players who purchased these will be able to download the DLC when it launches at no extra cost, while players who only have the base game or the Game Pass version will be required to pay.

"There's a lot of stuff... We've changed the maps so we have some city maps," Howard said. We also know that it will include "new story content, new locations, new gear and more" .

As for the free update, Howard said “The update that we have coming I think will be announced within the next few days this week and then it will be available on Steam beta and it has some great new things for shipbuilding." The ship building mechanic has been one of the most popular features of the game, with players recreating their favorite sci-fi interstellar vessels even before the game was fully launched.

From X-Wings to Normandy and USCSS Nostromo, the possibilities seem endless. Bethesda has promised a new update for the sci-fi game roughly every six weeks, and so far it looks like they're sticking to that schedule. These free updates are first available on the Steam Beta branch and will then be rolled out to consoles, so be sure to sign up there if you want to be the first to access new content.
