Riot Games' popular competitive tac-shooter expands to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 console gamers.

Riot Games announces that its popular free-to-play 5v5 character-based tactical shooter VALORANT will soon be available to players worldwide on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles. The expansion will launch with a limited beta that will first be released in the US, Canada, UK, Europe and Japan on June 14, 2024, before potentially expanding to other global regions. The news of VALORANT's console expansion and upcoming limited beta will be announced on stage at the 2024 Summer Game Fest by VALORANT's Executive Producer Andy Ho and Production Director Arnar Gylfason, marking remarkable growth in the console market for Riot Games. Global console gamers can learn more about VALORANT's limited beta and register their interest in accessing the beta at www.Beta.PlayVALORANT.com.

Both the Xbox and PS5 formats feature custom VALORANT gameplay that maintains the game's high level of core, competitive gameplay that remains the highest priority for the franchise's expansion. In order to maintain VALORANT's recognized standard of competitive integrity, there will be no cross-play between PC and console gamers. However, VALORANT gamers on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PS5 will have a connected, shared inventory and gameplay progression linked to their VALORANT account. Both PC and console gamers will receive platform releases of all live patch balances, new agents, maps, premium content and additional live service features at the same time.

"When we explored the possibility of bringing VALORANT to multiple platforms, we knew we had to be able to offer the same uncompromising, competitive experience we've been delivering to PC gamers for years: a precise, team-based, tactical shooter," says Arnar. Gylfason, Production Director for VALORANT at Riot Games. “We were determined that VALORANT's core, competitive gameplay should feel natural on a controller, and - if we couldn't live up to that gameplay guarantee - we had to be prepared to pull out. We hope we have made it work, but at the end of the day it is our players who have the final say.”

VALORANT pits two teams of five players against each other in a shootout that is decided over 24 rounds where attackers fight against defenders. The game is free and includes precise skills, high stakes and deadly gameplay.
