The test – Sound, use and comfort

Now it's time for the actual testing of the headset. We'll start with music, then some FPS gaming, and finish by evaluating the comfort.

The headset is based on the fact that it uses a 3.5 jack, which also makes the setup incredibly quick and easy. We don't have to go into any software to set the sound profile. Therefore, we can quickly throw ourselves into listening to some music, playing some FPS and otherwise experiencing the comfort and quality.

In terms of music, the headset has incredibly good sound, the bass is well balanced, however the treble is a bit high. However, it is not something that ruins the sound experience as a whole. However, it can be something that can give an advantage in terms of games where you sit with your teammates, and gives them the opportunity to get through to you clearly.

In terms of gaming, the Blackshark V2 X White edition also manages to deliver the goods here. The sound is incredibly good, and it manages to provide a reasonable sound image during the games where I use the headset. It's not because it is as sharp in relation to footsteps as I have experienced with other games. But in relation to the price, it is quite reasonable.

When we come to comfort, the ear cups are large and with a lot of space, even large ears will experience plenty of space. With a weight of 240 grams, it is also a headset that sits lightly on the head and is incredibly comfortable to wear. Where I see one thing that drags down in general and on comfort is the length of the cable. There is not much cable, and it also meant that it had to be in the computer, which is on the floor and up to me. I did not have much freedom of movement when I was wearing it. So it makes it personal for me, in everyday life I would have to use an external sound card or similar, to get more cable.

Conclusion

After testing the Razer BlackShark V2 X White Edition for both music, gaming, and comfort, it is clear that the headset has several strong points – but also some compromises.

Setup is one of the biggest advantages. With a 3.5mm jack, it's quick to get started without having to install software or adjust sound profiles. It's a simple, plug-and-play solution that works across platforms including PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and mobile.

In music tests, the headset delivers surprisingly good sound. The bass is well-balanced, which provides a rich sound experience. However, the treble is a bit high, which can affect the soundstage in certain tracks. However, this is not a dealbreaker, as it also makes voices and details in the soundstage stand out clearly – an advantage in gaming, where communication is important.

In the gaming test, the BlackShark V2 X delivers a solid performance. The sound is clear and detailed, making it easy to pick up important sounds like gunshots and explosions. However, the precision in footsteps and positional sound is not quite on par with more expensive headsets, which can be a disadvantage in competitive FPS games. For the price, however, the audio experience is more than acceptable, and the headset does a good job of delivering an immersive gaming experience.

When it comes to comfort, there are many positives to highlight. The large ear cups provide plenty of space, even for users with larger ears, and the memory foam cushions ensure a soft and comfortable fit. Weighing only 240 grams, the headset feels light on the head, making it comfortable to wear for long periods of time without discomfort.

However, there are some drawbacks that drag down the overall impression a bit. The short cable can be a limitation, especially if your computer is on the floor, as it reduces freedom of movement. An external sound card or an extension cable can, however, remedy this problem. In addition, the cable is fixed, which means that a faulty cable can be a problem, as it cannot be replaced separately. A non-detachable microphone can also be a minor drawback for those who want flexibility, but for most gamers this will not be a major obstacle.

At a price of 50$, the BlackShark V2 X White Edition delivers impressive value for money. You get a lightweight and comfortable headset with good sound, wide compatibility and a stylish design. Although there are small compromises in terms of cable and microphone, it is still an excellent choice in its price range. That is why we also end up with a score of 8 out of 10 along with the Safe buy award.
