Game Outlet Europe has today announced that the 8BitDo Retro Cube 2 Speaker - N Edition is now available in European stores. It is a small, compact speaker measuring under 90mm, which draws clear references to the classic NES console, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

Three ways to connect

The Retro Cube 2 isn't just a Bluetooth speaker. To cater to gamers, 8BitDo has built in three different connectivity options: Bluetooth, 2.4G wireless (via a dongle), and wired USB. This means you can use it for everything from your phone at the beach to your gaming setup at home without any noticeable audio lag.

A practical detail is the included charging station. It functions as a wireless charger, so you can simply lift the speaker and take it with you, and it also has a built-in signal amplifier that ensures a stable 2.4G connection.

Stereo and intuitive control

The speaker delivers true stereo sound via the two built-in units, and you can quickly switch between "Music" and "Gaming" mode to optimize the sound for your needs with a quick switch. On top you will find a large, tactile D-pad (directional pad), familiar from the old controllers. It is used to control volume, pause/play and pair devices.

There is also a built-in microphone, so you can answer calls directly on the speaker if you use it with your phone.

Battery for long sessions

Despite its modest size and weight of just 450 grams, 8BitDo promises up to 30 hours of playtime on a single charge. That's more than enough for a whole weekend or those really long gaming sessions.

The design is a direct homage to the past with the classic red, grey and black colors. The red speaker grilles are designed to evoke the iconic start button, which has been the gateway to gaming experiences for many generations.

Price and Availability: The 8BitDo Retro Cube 2 Speaker - N Edition officially launches today, April 27, 2026, at a suggested retail price of 44.99 Euros, which is equivalent to around 335 Danish kroner.
