Developed in collaboration with hip-hop producers
Throughout the development phase, Sony worked closely with renowned producers and musicians to fine-tune the sound profile. The team included Grammy-nominated producer Dot Da Genius , drummer and producer Daru Jones , songwriter and DJ Dready , and sound engineer and producer Dennis “ROC.am” Jones . The collaboration ensured deeper low frequencies, more punch and clearer vocal reproduction.

Sound technology, effect and four sound profiles
At the heart of the series is a new circular woofer design, which works with large cabinet volumes and ULT DUCT ports to deliver a more expressive and deep bass.
Four sound modes via the ULT button:
- ULT1: Amplifies the deep bass and emphasizes the very low frequencies.
- ULT2: Delivers maximum bass power and body-shaking sound pressure.
- FLAT: Reproduces the music neutrally and faithfully to the source.
- LIVE: Recreates the spatial feel of a live concert with preserved vocal clarity.

Model overview and output power:
- ULT TOWER MAX: The top model of the series has an output power of up to 2,150 watts . It is equipped with three woofers (two forward-firing and one rear-firing), midrange drivers, four tweeters and 360° Party Sound that spreads the sound throughout the room.
- ULT TOWER 7: Delivers up to 420 watts of output power and 360° Party Sound in a more portable format.
- ULT TOWER 5: Compact model for smaller rooms with an output power of up to 300 watts .
Sound field optimization: Automatically analyzes room placement and external noise and adjusts the overall sound balance across the entire frequency range. The speakers can be placed either vertically or horizontally.
Lighting, connections and karaoke
Designed for both professional and casual use, the speakers support XLR , RCA and USB-C connections , making it easy to connect DJ equipment or microphones (such as the optional ULTMIC1 for karaoke).
- Party Chain & Auracast: Using Auracast, multiple compatible Sony speakers can be linked wirelessly to play synchronized music and lights.
- Three light settings: BEAT (synchronized with the rhythm), WAVE (dynamic atmosphere for parties) and MELLOW (slow light patterns for relaxation).

Portability, battery life and environmental focus
The cabinets have new carrying handles with improved grip, and the ULT TOWER MAX and ULT TOWER 7 have upgraded wheels with wider tires for transport over uneven surfaces.
- Outdoor use & battery: ULT TOWER 7 has up to 30 hours of battery life , while ULT TOWER 5 has up to 20 hours of battery life . Both TOWER 7 and TOWER 5 are IPX4 certified against splashing water in a vertical position.
- Sustainability: Approximately 35% of the plastic used in ULT TOWER MAX consists of recycled plastic. For ULT TOWER 7 and ULT TOWER 5, recycled plastic constitutes approximately 20%.
- Cultural sponsorship: Sony is the official wireless speaker partner for Red Bull Dance Your Style 2026 , including at the national final in the USA (September 2026) and the world final in Switzerland (October 2026).
