Kingston has just announced a massive milestone: more than 100 million units of its A400 SATA SSD have now been shipped to users worldwide since its launch in 2017. The model quickly became popular as one of the most accessible ways to upgrade an older computer from a traditional hard drive to the much faster SSD technology.

Significant speed improvement

The A400 series particularly gained traction with consumers because it delivered a noticeable difference in boot times and data transfer compared to mechanical hard drives. With read and write speeds of up to 500MB/s and 450MB/s respectively, it breathed new life into millions of laptops and desktops worldwide.

Tony Hollingsbee, SSD Business Manager at Kingston EMEA, said in connection with the anniversary:
