The Test – Use and Performance

Test system

  • MSI MEG Z690 Unify
  • Intel I7 12900K
  • MSI Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti
  • 32 GB HyperX Fury DDR5 5200 MHz CL36
  • Samsung 970 EVO 500 GB SSD
  • Seasonic Prime TX-1300

Test software

  • Cinebench (Benchmark)
  • HWinfo64 (Monitoring)

Procedure

The test is set up so that we first warm up the system with Cinebench for 5 minutes. Then run it further for 10 minutes where we measure the average temperature in HWiNFO64. We then finally subtract the room temperature at the given time and land on a delta temperature to give as neutral a picture as possible. The fans are set to run at full speed, so that you get a picture of the maximum cooling performance with the load we are now giving it. It should give a real picture of how much you can stress on the various coolers, and whether they can take more or less than what we give it.

**After following up a bit on the I9 12900K and heat generation, I have chosen to turn off Hyper-Threading, to give the cooler the opportunity to show what it can do, rather than pushing the CPU to its maximum. All tests in the future will run like this.

The measurements:

  • Room temperature: ~ 26 degrees
  • Fan speed: ~ 2200 RPM
  • TDP: 207W

We start by looking at the idle, here is the Light Loop 240, which is fine among the others with 3 degrees in delta temperature. Nothing that sticks out or differs significantly.

If we move on to the load test itself, we must have stressed the system so that the cooler can be allowed to show what it can do. Here, Light Loop 240 gets off really well, where we see a delta temperature of 46 degrees. Which just about the cooler from EK, and makes it among the top 2 that we have tested. It also performs better than many of the 280mm systems that have been tested. It managed to get up to 205W, which again ranks it well among the others, and a little above some.

Noise level

Our noise measurements were made with a UNI-T UT353 dB meter. The measurements were made in a "real world" setup and thus not in a sound chamber. External influences have of course been tried to be reduced as much as possible, but as I said, this has not been done in a sound chamber. Our measurements must therefore most of all be taken as a general indicator and not a scientific measurement. They primarily serve as a basis for comparison across tested products, which are always tested under as comparable conditions as possible.

Conclusion

Be quiet! The Light Loop 240 impresses on several fronts and delivers a combination of efficient cooling, elegant design and low noise level. The test on our system, consisting of an Intel i7 12900K, showed that this AIO cooler can really handle a significant heat load. It performed particularly well in our load test, where it achieved a delta temperature of 46 degrees. This places it among the best coolers we've tested, and even ahead of some of the larger 280mm systems. In the idle phase it was also fine with a delta temperature of only 3 degrees, which testifies to its ability to keep the temperature stable even when the system is not under load.

Assembly of the Light Loop 240 is easy and straightforward, making it a good choice for both experienced and first-timers in water cooling. The accompanying manual and the necessary brackets for various plinths ensure a painless installation process. The cooler delivers a quiet experience even at full fan speed of 2200 RPM, making it suitable for users who want a cooler that is both efficient and quiet. The noise level measured with our UNI-T UT353 dB meter confirms that this cooler remains in a comfortable range and will not be a nuisance in everyday use.

The design is another strength of the Light Loop 240. With the beautiful, addressable RGB lighting and the solid build quality, it fits into most high-end PC setups. At the same time, the absence of necessary software is an advantage for those who prefer a simple installation and control via hardware.

In terms of price, Be quiet! Light Loop 240 at the reasonable end with a price of around DKK 859. This makes it competitive compared to other AIO coolers in the same category. Given its high performance and low noise level, it is definitely worth the money.

In terms of disadvantages, there is actually nothing worth noting, which underlines how accomplished a product this is. The lack of intrusive software is an added bonus for those who want a cooler without unnecessary complexity.

All in all, Be quiet! Light Loop 240 to deliver an impressive performance. Its easy installation, great design, quiet operation and high cooling efficiency make it one of the best choices in its class. If you're looking for an AIO cooler that combines efficiency, low noise and style, the Light Loop 240 is an excellent choice. Therefore, I give it a score of 9 out of 10. This is an almost perfect cooler, with the only small detail that could perhaps be improved is the possibility of more advanced RGB control. But this is a minor criticism in an otherwise completed product.
