BF6 Roadmap

Battlefield Studios has just unveiled their roadmap for the rest of 2026. There's plenty of content on the way for both Battlefield 6 and REDSEC, and it looks like the developers are finally listening to the community with the introduction of some long-awaited features.

Season 3: Revisiting the Classics (May)

Season 3 launches in May, and the big news here is a rebirth of the Golmud Railway from Battlefield 4. In the new version, the map is called Railway to Golmud, and it will be the largest map in Battlefield 6 so far. It takes place in Tajikistan and is of course updated to the latest graphics engine.

Later in the season, another classic will return: an updated version of the Grand Bazaar from Battlefield 3, this time named Cairo Bazaar.

For those playing REDSEC, Ranked Play is finally being introduced. It starts in Battle Royale Quads, and the idea is to continually evolve based on player feedback.

Season 4: Naval Battle and Wake Island (Summer)

This summer, Season 4 will land, and the theme is Naval Warfare. This means a comeback to large-scale naval battles in both BF6 and REDSEC.

  • Tsuru Reef: A new, gigantic map focused on the sea and air. We'll get new ships, aircraft carriers with decks you can actually take off from, and a dynamic wave system that should make battles at sea more unpredictable.
  • Wake Island: The classic Battlefield map returns once again. It's become a tradition, but it usually works.

Season 5: New Horizons (End of the Year)

The year ends with Season 5, which takes us to a location the series has never visited before. As a little Christmas present, they're dropping three new maps this season.

The features we actually lack

Perhaps most importantly, the studio is working on a series of "Quality of Life" updates. Here's the list of features prioritized this year:

  • Server Browser and persistent servers: Finally, we get the opportunity to control our own gaming experience again.
  • Proximity Chat: Now you can shout at (or to) your nearby enemies.
  • Spectator Mode and Leaderboards: For those who take it a little more seriously.

Later in the year, the official competitions, the Open and Elite series, will also be launched after the Ranked Play system has been refined.
