Razer today marked another milestone in immersive gaming at RazerCon 2024. Razer Freyja – The world's first HD Haptic Gaming pad.

Powered by Razer Sensa HD Haptics, Razer Freyja introduces a new layer of immersive gaming immersion as the world's first HD Haptic gaming pad. Razer Freyja brings dynamic tactile sensations to life and can help give your gaming session a physically noticeable boost. From intense explosions on battlefields to the subtle vibrations of a heartbeat during the thrill of a stealth mission, Razer Freyja allows gamers to experience a full spectrum of sensory feedback.

Feel the direction, distance and intensity of in-game actions through multi-directional haptics powered by six advanced haptic motor actuators. Whether it's navigating through bullets, steering on racetracks, or experiencing environmental effects like storms or earthquakes, the Razer Freyja offers a full-body sensory experience that pulls gamers right into the heart of the action. Beyond gaming, Razer Freyja's versatility extends to enhancing the experience of watching movies or listening to music with immersive haptic feedback.

With multiple connectivity options including Razer HyperSpeed Wireless and Bluetooth, users can enjoy effortless interaction across PC and Android devices via the Razer Nexus app. The quick-release connection function ensures order in cable management and prevents cable tangles, while the adjustable strap ensures a secure fit for most gaming or office chairs. Gamers can customize their tactile feedback through Razer Synapse 4, where intensity levels can be adjusted, or choose from preset haptic experiences.

Razer Kraken V4 Pro – Full Immersion. Full Control.

However, the Razer Freyja was not the only novelty with haptic feedback. The latest headset in the Kraken series, the Razer Kraken V4 Pro also comes with haptic feedback as an element. Powered by Razer Sensa HD Haptics and Razer Chroma RGB, this wireless battlestation headset features an OLED Control Hub.

Kraken V4 Pro completes the series together with Kraken V4 and Kraken V4 X and aims to improve your gaming experience and create more immersion with its haptic properties. With Sensa HD Haptics technology integrated directly into major titles such as "Hogwarts Legacy", "Stalker 2", "Final Fantasy 16" and the highly anticipated "Silent Hill 2", gamers can expect a sensory experience that blurs the lines between game action and reality , where you can feel everything from the whine of bullets to the subtle vibrations of distant thunderstorms.

The headset's new OLED Control Hub enables extensive customization, displays key PC metrics, manages audio sources and adjusts settings directly. The design is inspired by high-end audio equipment, making it a great addition as a centerpiece and providing comprehensive control over the gaming audio environment right at gamers' fingertips. The Kraken V4 Pro is Razer's first gaming headset to offer four connectivity modes—Razer HyperSpeed Wireless, Bluetooth, USB, and 3.5mm. This ensures that whether gamers are playing on PC, console or mobile, the Kraken V4 Pro delivers seamless audio immersion. Its versatile design supports instant input switching between sources, allowing gamers to switch between devices such as PC and PlayStation without interruption. Unique to the Kraken V4 Pro, and another first for Razer's gaming headsets, is the ability to mix audio from both 2.4GHz and Bluetooth sources simultaneously, providing a rich, layered audio experience.

An early look

Razer Freyja

I have had the opportunity to have an early look at the two new haptic products from Razer. There is no doubt that Razer Sensa HD Haptics can give a boost to your gaming experience. I tested the card with Final Fantasy XVI, which is one of the games that supports Razer Sensa HD Haptics, and here I found the experience gave an exciting boost to the experience and backed up what was happening on the screen with a nice level of feedback from both Razer Freyja and Kraken V4 Pro. However, it might well be an experience that became a little too overwhelming after a longer time. However, a longer test will have to show more about that.

The downside, however, is that you only get the full benefit of the haptic feedback in games that have Razer Sensa HD Haptics implemented throughout the game. If you want to play a game that doesn't have it integrated, the system switches to more generally trying to interpret the sound in the game and convert it into haptic feedback via what Razer calls "Audio to Haptics". I also tried this via a demo in Counter Strike, which currently does not have Razer Sensa HD Haptics support. Here the result was somewhat less convincing, and quickly became a bit more of a distraction than an extension of my gaming experience.

If it's going to be really good, then the list of fully supported games has to grow. Of course, it's only in the early days, so we'll have to see how far Razer can take this new addition to your gaming experience. After all, no one thinks about the haptic feedback in your PlayStation controller anymore. It might be something Razer is starting on PC with these new products.
