Elegoo is on the way with their largest and most advanced resin printer to date, Jupiter 2. It is the successor to the original Jupiter series, and here the size, resolution and functions that make everyday life a little easier for those of us who print in resin have been seriously upgraded.

Space for the biggest projects

With a build area of 302 x 162 x 300 mm, this is a machine on the heavy end of the scale. To ensure you don't run out of liquid in the middle of a huge print, Elegoo has thrown a resin pump and a 2 kg bottle into the machine.

One detail that I personally think is cool is the built-in heater in the tank. It keeps your resin at the optimal temperature, making the liquid more fluid. This ultimately means better detail and fewer mistakes when the layers have to adhere to each other.

Sharpness despite the large size

Even though the machine is large, Elegoo has crammed a 16K display into it. This gives it an XY resolution of 20 x 26 microns, which is actually sharper than their smaller Mars 5. Maintaining that precision on such a large surface is a pretty impressive feat.

In addition to the screen itself, they have upgraded it with a number of "convenience" features:

  • Integrated camera: So you can monitor the print live from your mobile phone or computer.
  • Auto-leveling: No more standing around messing with paper and screws to get the build plate straight.

Quick film change: It has become easier to change the FEP film in the vat, which can otherwise be one of the most annoying tasks in resin printing.

Better late than never

Elegoo is holding a "Meet Jupiter 2" event on April 15th, where we expect to get the final details. The machine is actually quite late, as it was originally planned for summer 2025, but as they say: Better a finished product a little late than a half-finished product too early.

We don't yet know the exact Danish price, but with these specs it will probably land at the slightly more expensive end of the consumer segment.
