A few days ago, HardwareUnboxed shared a video testing the AMD Ryzen 9700X and 7700X in over 40 games. For these benchmarks, HU tested the latest version of Windows 11 with beta 24H2. And as they found, the 24H2 update can boost the performance of both Zen 4 and Zen 5 CPUs by an average of 10%.
The most incredible thing is that some games can get some pretty impressive performance improvements. For example, Gears 5 saw a 35% performance improvement. Similarly, Fortnite DX11 saw a 30% increase in performance. Even Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, a game that can be CPU bound, got a 22% performance boost. And that's only with a new update. These improvements are not due to using faster RAM modules or overclocking the CPU. It's really wild.
Microsoft had originally planned to include these AMD Ryzen performance improvements in the 24H2 update. But the team has also made them available in the 23H2 update. This is the update that most of you already have right now.
All you have to do is find KB5041587 under Windows Update > Advanced settings > Optional updates. Once you find it, you can install it. And that's it.
Note that this is ONLY available on Windows 11. From what we know so far, Microsoft doesn't plan to bring it to Windows 10. It's a shame, but it is what it is.
