At Apple's fall "Surprise and Shine" event, the company, led by newly appointed CEO John Ternus, unveiled its latest hardware products. The centerpiece of the launch was the iPhone Duo, Apple's very first foldable smartphone. The giant also unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro series, Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, and AirPods 5.

All new devices are built around Siri AI, the extensively updated voice assistant powered by Gemini models that is at the heart of iOS 27. The software will roll out publicly on September 14th and will initially support English, with languages including French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish to be added in October. (Note: Siri AI has been delayed indefinitely in the EU and is being phased out in China.) Apple has also increased prices on older iPhone models due to global memory and storage supply challenges.

iPhone Duo: Apple's first foldable smartphone

The biggest news was the book-formatted iPhone Duo, which brings iPad mini-like functionality right into your pocket and offers Apple Pencil support on both screens.

Screens and design: Equipped with a 7.6-inch Super Retina inner display (Apple's largest iPhone display to date) and a 5.4-inch outer display. When unfolded, the phone is just 5.2 mm thick (11.3 mm folded) and weighs 254 grams. The inner display has an under-display camera, while the outer display uses a hole punch.

Construction & Durability: Built in a grade 5 titanium chassis with a precision hinge reinforced with carbon fiber support plates, the phone has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, nano-texture coating on the screen, and Ceramic Shield 2.

Cameras: Newly designed camera system consisting of a 48MP main camera (with 2x optical quality) and a 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera - but no dedicated telephoto camera. The phone can act as its own tripod and supports two-way viewing during photo shooting and FaceTime. It has neither an Action button nor a dedicated Camera Control button.

Biometrics and hardware: Face ID replaces Touch ID and is integrated into the side button. It is powered by the new A20 Pro chipset and C2 network modem. The battery provides up to 44 hours of video playback on the outer display or about 24 hours of mixed use on both displays. 5 minutes of charging gives 5 hours of playback.

Software: Supports multitasking with two apps (or two instances of the same app) side by side on the large screen. Essential controls have been moved to the edge of the outer screen. Standby mode is supported on both screens.

Price and colors: Available in Star White and Night Sky. Pricing starts at DKK 17,999 for 256 GB (and up to DKK 29,999 for 2 TB). Pre-orders open October 16th with shipping from October 23rd.

iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max

The flagship iPhone 18 Pro (6.3") and iPhone 18 Pro Max (6.9") models focus on performance, significant camera upgrades, and better cooling.

A20 Pro chipset: Built on a new 2nm architecture with a 6-core CPU (2 desktop-class super-cores that are 20% faster), 7-core GPU (40% faster graphics), and a 32-core Neural Engine with 50% more memory bandwidth. The phones also have an N1 chipset (Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, Thread) and C2 modem.

Cooling & Battery: Next-generation vapor chamber has 3x the surface area and provides 40% better heat dissipation. Battery life is rated at 36 hours for the 18 Pro and a whopping 45 hours for the 18 Pro Max. Wired charging reaches 50% in 15 minutes.

Camera system: New 48MP Fusion main camera with variable aperture (built of six thin blades) that captures up to 60% more light and enables faster shooting in Night Mode. Supports 4K Dolby Vision HDR in timelapse and manual 'Pro controls' (shutter speed, aperture, white balance, histogram). Introduces Apple Reference Image feature to verify photo authenticity and SynthID watermarking of AI images.

Design & Price: Dynamic Island has become smaller and can now track up to three 'Live Activities' at once. The models are available in Black, Silver, Glacier and the new signature color Burgundy. The prices are not surprisingly on the high end: iPhone 18 Pro costs from 10,999 kroner, and Pro Max costs from 12,299 kroner. Pre-orders open on Saturday, September 12, with availability from September 18.

Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4

Both watch series are updated with the new S11 processor and introduce the Audio Intelligence feature, which can detect environmental sounds (such as alarms or a crying baby) and notify you on your wrist, transcribe the last 15 seconds of conversation, and run Shazam in the background.

Apple Watch Series 12: Now measures heart rate every 5 seconds for more detailed live data and offers a new 'Readiness score'. Battery life is 24 hours, but charges faster (15 minutes of charging gives 12 hours of power). Available in 42mm and 46mm cases (including a reintroduced ceramic version). Price from 3,499 kroner.

Apple Watch Ultra 4: Up to 50 hours of battery life in regular use and 84 hours in power save mode. 15 minutes of charging gives you 18 hours of power. Also available in a luxurious Hermès Ultra 4 edition with a "Grand H" titanium wetsuit strap. Price from 6,999 kroner.

On sale: Pre-orders open today with availability on September 18th.

AirPods 5

The AirPods series is updated with two new 5th generation models with open active noise cancellation (ANC), which blocks up to 50% more outside noise than AirPods 4, as well as improved IP57 dust and water resistance.

Standard model 1,099 kroner: Open ANC, up to 4 hours of listening time with ANC activated (20 hours total with charging case).

Upgraded model 1,299 kroner: Adds wireless charging case (compatible with Apple Watch charger), built-in volume control on the stem and up to 5 hours of listening time with ANC (22 hours total with case).

Sale: Available for pre-order today with availability starting September 18th.
