The new Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC has now been officially unveiled by Qualcomm. With improved CPU and GPU performance, this chip delivers new AI experiences to more affordable smartphones. Soon in devices from Samsung, Realme and Sharp.

It leaked yesterday, but now Qualcomm has made it official - the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC is on the way. This 4nm chip is expected to be positioned just below the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in Qualcomm's portfolio. Qualcomm promises the new chip will deliver "remarkable AI experiences for more affordable smartphones," and they've already received orders from Samsung, Realme, and Sharp.

Those brands will announce the first devices powered by it "in the coming months." However, all will be surpassed by Xiaomi, who will be the first to use the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 in a device unveiled in September. Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 delivers 20% better CPU performance, a 40% faster GPU, 30% better AI performance and 12% overall power savings compared to 7s Gen 2.

Power savings on the CPU side alone is 45%. The Kryo CPU has a Prime core with a speed of up to 2.5 GHz, 3 Performance cores with a speed of up to 2.4 GHz and 4 Efficiency cores with a speed of up to 1.8 GHz. Up to 16 GB of RAM is supported, as well as UFS 3.1 storage. The chip has on-device generative AI capabilities thanks to the AI Engine dedicated NPU. It also supports AI-based noise reduction, 200 MP photo and 4K HDR video recording.

Spectra Triple ISP enables simultaneous photography and video capability, with fast parallel processing and sliding zoom. Displays up to FHD+ and 144 Hz are supported, and for gaming you get Adaptive Performance Engine 3.0, Variable Rate Shading (which dynamically renders objects in a scene), Adreno HDR Fast Blend (for dynamic, complex scenes), and Vulkan 1.3 API support. Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 supports 5G mmWave and Sub-6, SA and NSA, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, Glonass, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS and NavIC.
