Qualcomm is gearing up for the launch of its latest flagship system-on-a-chip (SoC), the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which is expected to take place in October. This latest SoC will be equipped with an impressive line-up of features and performance.
The first benchmarks of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Qualcomm Reference Design (QRD) device have just appeared. These results are amazing and promise a lot for the upcoming SoC. Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will use Qualcomm's self-developed Nuvia CPU architecture and will have a configuration of 2 x 4.09GHz + 6 x 2.78GHz cores, 12GB of RAM and Android 15 from the start.
Additionally, the SoC will use the Adreno 830 GPU and TSMC's 3nm process. The benchmark results show a score of 2884 for Geekbench 6 Single-Core and 8840 for multi-core. These numbers are significantly higher than the corresponding scores for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 QRD device.
According to leaks from Digital Chat Station, the performance in the mass-produced devices will be even higher. Previous rumors suggest that the single-core score will reach 3,000 points and the multi-core score will exceed 10,000 points, which is significantly higher than Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
The Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro are said to be the first phones to use this chip. We can expect the phones to be introduced in China in October, right after the start of the Snapdragon Summit 2024, which begins on October 21.
