We're just two weeks away from WWDC, where Apple will unveil iOS 18 with new AI features, updates to home screen customization, and more. According to a new report, one of the new "prominent AI features" will be the ability to use artificial intelligence to create custom emojis.

In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman outlines what to expect from iOS 18 and macOS 15. In addition to AI features for things like notifications, Photos, Notes and more, Apple plans to make the emoji creation feature "prominent " among users.

Gurman writes: "One prominent feature will be bringing generative AI to emojis. The company is developing software that can create custom emojis on the spot, based on what users type. That means you suddenly have a brand new emoji for every occasion, in addition to catalog of options currently offered by Apple on iPhone and other devices."

Apple adds new emojis to the iPhone every year with updates to iOS. For example, iOS 17.4 in March added several new emoji characters to the iPhone. The new "generative AI" feature likely means users will no longer have to wait for these annual updates to access more emoji customization.

Gurman also writes that iOS 18 will allow users to recolor app icons to personalize their home screen. The update is also expected to allow users to place app icons and widgets more freely on their home screen, rather than being limited to the current fixed order.
