Bambu Lab R1 announced for September

There's something new coming from Bambu Lab. While there's not much information available, we do know that it's a dedicated laser engraving and cutting machine. There's only a single teaser image to go with it right now, but you can sign up on Bambu Lab's website to get more information as soon as it's available.

Bambu Lab has already played with laser cutting and engraving with the modules they launched with the Bambu Lab H2D. Although the primary focus here was still 3D printing, the interchangeable module also allowed for laser cutting and engraving. Along with that, Bambu Lab has also expanded their MakerWorld website, so that there is now a wealth of files targeted for the new possibilities. In parallel, Bambu Lab has also developed their dedicated software, Bambu Suite, for processing the project files.

It is not entirely out of the blue that Bambu Lab is now apparently taking things a step further with a dedicated machine for laser cutting and engraving.

The official statement from Bambu Lab reads:

When we started Bambu Lab, we had a vision that went far beyond any single machine: We wanted to create a personal production center — reliable tools that freed creators from the grind, at a price that rewarded curiosity. We strive to put the joy of creation in the hands of more people and let more people feel the rush of making something for themselves.

Since X1C, that vision hasn’t changed. What has sharpened is our understanding of the overlooked market, where many creators and small businesses still spend thousands of dollars on tools that are slow, complex — or both.

The Bambu Lab R1 is the next logical step in that mission.

We asked ourselves a simple question: If we applied the same design philosophy that shaped our 3D printers to laser cutting and engraving, what would a machine that creators truly deserve look like?

The answer is here: a tool built on the reliability and ease of use that our community already trusts, powered by technical and engineering innovation that removes the barriers and lets you create freely.

Bambu Lab made the hobby much more accessible and user-friendly with their 3D printers. It will be exciting to see if they can now do the same for laser cutting and engraving with the Bambu Lab R1. We will keep an eye on updates and hope to get the chance to test the Bambu Lab R1 so we can try things out. More information is expected at the end of August.
