DJI is ready with the fourth generation of their popular pocket camera, the Osmo Pocket 4. Although the design is similar, a lot has happened under the hood – especially for those who love slow motion and need to get from recording to editing quickly.

More power for slow motion and low light conditions

The core of the camera is still a 1” CMOS sensor, but DJI has cranked up the performance. The big news is the ability to shoot 4K video at a whopping 240 frames per second. This provides some extremely smooth, high-resolution slow-motion footage that we haven’t seen in this format before.

The aperture is f/2.0, and with 14 stops of dynamic range, DJI promises that it can handle both bright sunlight and dark environments without burning out or drowning in noise. The three-axis stabilization is of course still in place, and the new ActiveTrack 7.0 should be even better at sticking to the subject, even if it's moving quickly.

Faster workflow and built-in storage

One of the most practical upgrades is that DJI has now thrown 100GB of built-in storage directly into the camera. It's a nice safety feature if you forget your SD card. At the same time, the transfer speed has been increased to 800MB/s, so it won't take forever to get those heavy 4K files onto your computer.

On the hardware side, it has a new 5D joystick and a dedicated zoom button, which makes it a little more intuitive to control while filming.

Power for the long days

Battery life has been boosted, so you can now squeeze up to 240 minutes of recording out of a single charge. But the most important thing is almost the charging time: It can go from 0 to 80% in just 18 minutes. That's worth its weight in gold when you're on the go and need to quickly power up during a break.

As a new feature, you can now get a wireless "fill light" that can be clicked on if you need a little extra light for, for example, vlogs or faces in dark environments.
